Nor Lanka Hotel
Unawatuna beach front can, at times, be quite noisy, especially on the evenings, so we were grateful to reside at Nor Lanka Hotel. Within 1 minutes walk to the beach, tucked away down a very quiet lane, it offered a great location and maximum tranquility to unwind after fun days out at the beach and exploring Galle Fort. The property, built by the owners themselves, a Norwegian man and his Sri Lankan wife, is a spacious colonial style hotel, with an impressive open plan dining area surrounded by manicured gardens and ensuite rooms.
With ample space to relax, several floors with sun loungers, comfy sofas and a reading area with a good selection of books, it suited us adults. The child’s quad bike was also a great win for Carmen, who enjoyed being pushed all around the lawns by any willing soul.
Bedrooms were spacious and clean, with beds having attached mosquito nets and bathrooms having hot showers which was nice. We were greeted each morning with a smile from staff and the owner who took great pride in sharing with us good advice about the nearby area, including the best restaurants to eat at and places of interest to visit.
The attentive staff took great delight in providing us with varied, delicious and well presented breakfasts (not to mention great coffee!)
We had a very relaxed and enjoyable stay at Nor Lanka Hotel and would definitely recommend it to others wishing to visit Unawatuna and the south coast.
