The White Terrace Hotel
[Now called S.R SOFIA VILLA HOTEL]
The white Terrace hotel ticks the box on so many levels for a really nice stay in Siam Reap. Let’s face it, most travellers to the area will be visiting to see the famous temples including Angkor Wat and will want an accommodation in close proximity to the sights, with direct transport links and plenty of eatery options around. The White Terrace Hotel is set on a quiet road, a short 4 minutes tuk tuk ride away from the busy Pub street (the local tourist hub offering a wide array of restaurants and shops). Apart from the regular sounds of nature, we had no disturbance from honking horns and traffic congestion which was perfect for a good nights sleep after a busy day out exploring!
Eating options at the hotel are extensive, with the menu offering Cambodian, Western, Italian and Indian dishes throughout the day. We would recommend if staying in the low season, ordering your food a little more in advance as the service time is rather relaxed, but the staff are otherwise extremely curious, polite and very attentive to all their guests’ needs.
Anyone travelling with children can imagine that a full day out with them wandering around temples would inevitably be the concoction for a melt down and very grumpy kids. Planning for this, we organised half day excursions, with our friendly and reliable driver ‘Som’ heading off early in the morning to explore and returning in the afternoon to use the hotel’s charming swimming pool. The pool was set in the middle of the courtyard surrounded by the hotel rooms, lush foliage, orchid plants and cushioned deck chairs. Carmen enjoyed the swimming pool so much with it’s varied depth levels, she was actually spurred on to learn to swim unaided by her arm bands! What a milestone to hit in a very memorable hotel, our stay here was thoroughly enjoyed and we’d recommend others to book their own for sure!
